"After all, Chinese subscribe to most of the western values. "

What we've demonstrated in the last 2/3 weeks is national pride takes precedence over all these values.

It doesn't inspire confidence in our "peaceful rise".

The fiasco certianly has done no favour to the image of western countries in China, but the nationlistic sentiment in our reaction also hardens the West's suspicion of China. This is probably lost on many Chinese, because to love and to be proud of your country is a virtue in China. However, the West, with the notable exception of US, are more ambivalent about patriotism.

I think what we need to learn is to grow a thick skin. The rest of the world won't agree with us on many things, and there will be protests, criticism, condemnation, international pressure, we need to get used to it. It's the same for all countries that are engaged in international politics. Look at the US, they took a lot of flak for the Iraq war, there were large-scale worldwide protests, and what we precevied as media bias against China is much more subtler than the anti-amercianism displayed by much of the western media during the Iraq invasion. Is the Western media biased against China? No, not more so than they're biased against the West.

The BBC has an anti-Chinese bias. I was at the torch realy with my Chinese wife and had an enjoyable time in Chinatown and in Trafalgar Square. The people who just wanted to welcome the torch were ignored. The BBC and certain people in the Establishment want to isolate China and stop it engaging with the World. They care nothing for the people in Tibet (Han or Tibetan). These people are dangerous.

There is no reference to the support of the Chinese students in the BBC or any other media that I can find. I want you to know that many of your Scottish cousins support China and the Chinese people and want the Olympics to be held peacefully without political interefrence.

That's not an easy question. I guess talks and more talks are the way. After all, Chinese subscribe to most of the western values. Chinese people long for a free, demoncratic, secular society. But they don't want to be lectured, especially at the time when west's moral standards are called into question from time to time. Chinese government do listen and change, although often not at the pace some in the west expect. What Chinese have learned from the last 160 years is that if you have to do thing on other people's term, you will end up losing the say on your own destiny.

The mobs who used violent to draw media attention should be condemned rather praised. People in their right mind should, in time, realise how dangerous these thugs are.

Hey guys! You know what I think? I think that all written here is bullshit, real lie. They are making us believe it’s true, they are trying to express it like it was in reality. Don’t believe it if you are not insane! There’s nothing special in this site, they just express regular news with unusual words. They can make something shocking out of anything! Don’t trust them!
